I didn’t plan this well. It’s not entirely my fault. I mean, it is my fault. But it wasn’t purposeful Super Mommy thinking.

You see. FireDad is at work today. Leaving me to lug both boys out in the pouring rain so I can go vote. I know, I know. If I would have realized ahead of time that today was his shift day, I would have voted by absentee ballot. But, this whole Leap Year threw me off!

I probably need to explain that to those families not involved in civil service calendar-y. You see, we have a color coded calendar. Red, blue and green. There are three shifts for those three colors. The 28th of February was red. However, the 29th of February was also red because some Fire Companies split the day into three separate shifts and continue on the rest of the schedule with their normal color. Our Department makes it interesting and doesn’t follow that train of thought. So, as of the 29th, everyone’s shift day color changed. I’m still working on remembering this fact.

Needless to say, when I checked last month, I forgot about the Leap Day throwing everything out of whack. And so, I’m alone on voting day. And really? It’s pouring. We’re expecting two to four inches of rain. Not snow. RAIN. I think I need something more than an “I Voted Today” sticker for sticking to my guns and actually doing this today, don’t you? Because the lazy, dry part of me doesn’t want to go get wet.

All that said, if your state is voting today, I don’t want to hear the excuses. If I’m lugging two boys out in ridiculous weather simply because I don’t know my colors, then you can get up off your doupa  and GO VOTE! Then, leave me a comment here with a picture of your sticker. I’m making a collage for tomorrow’s Wordless Wednesday sticker. If they don’t give you a sticker, demand one. It’s your voting right. Or something.

I’m off to shower. Which makes no sense as I have to go out in the rain. And I think we traded my umbrella with the Jeep. Oops.

I hate having to get the children out in the rain. Yesterday morning it was raining and muddy and just yuck.

I’ll be sure to stop by the pole on the way home. Thanks for reminding me. I really shouldn’t have any excuse. My poling place in on my way home.

We’re running around in the crazy rain here today too (not voting here today – just getting to/from school & errand running! No absentee ballot option for that! LOL)
Just pull their little hoods up and run to the car! You can do it! :c)

And if you can juggle holding the toddler’s hand, carrying the baby AND the diaper bag/purse/keys/etc. PLUS hold an umbrella over anyone’s head well enough to keep him or her dry, then you are either a SuperMom, or an Octopus!

Just had to add that I didn’t get to vote. Because we live outside of the city limits we weren’t included in the issues voted for.
