I’m FireMom. I run things over here. A few brief things about me personally? Well, hmm. I like sushi, Mexican and coffee but not all together. I’m a freelance writer which means I work from home. That means that I attempt to write professional sounding e-mails while wearing my robe as my older son simultaneously runs fire trucks over my toes and the baby spits up dangerously close to the keyboard. And laundry, can’t forget the laundry. I’m a breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, part-time co-sleeping mama as well. I’m also a first mom to an amazing little girl.
Yeah. The aforementioned toe smasher is BigBrother. He is two. He’s in the midst of potty-training (which is slow-going). He’s also grumpy in the mornings (which is why it’s taken three hours to write this one post). But he’s hilarious, always good for a laugh. He likes Thomas (the Train), books of any kind (as long as you read them over and over), Cars underwear, fire trucks and being outside at all times. More recently, we added the three month old LittleBrother to our family. He’s always smiling. I don’t know if that’s because he likes us or if he just thinks were absolutely amusing. He likes being worn, eating constantly, sleeping all cuddled up to someone and being naked. Oh, and he loves BigBrother. A lot. Like a crazy amount. He won’t pay attention to anyone else if BigBrother is in the room. His first smiles were for BigBrother, of course. He now bestows them on both me and FireDad. FireDad?
Yeah, he’s the fire fighter-husband-dad person. He’s the reason behind the spiffy blog name. Well, okay, I came up with it but he’s the fire fighter. He’s an amazing husband and father. He’s been considering writing on his own for awhile now but is flip-flopping back and forth. I recently tried to get him to share a story here on the blog but he chickened out at the last minute. That’s okay. We’re just thankful for all he does.
If you’re thinking that this blog looks awfully new, it kind of is. We had a previous family blog in which we used real names and locations and, well, we decided to change that to a slightly more anonymous existence for personal reasons. We do show pictures (obviously) but we don’t use names. It’s just our preference at this point in our lives. I did save all of our old blog posts (by exporting them before I deleted the old blog and saving them on a free wordpress.com blog which is now set to private).
This blog features a lot of the same “stuff” as our old blog. Family stories. Some focus on the ins and outs of fire life as a family, not just as a singular fire fighter. Photography, as I like to pretend I know what I’m doing with my DSLR. Parenting raves and rants. Some reviews, though most are on our review blog. And just general and normal blog blather. I like to write. I’ve always loved writing, even before the internet got involved in the process.

Your blog title caught my eye and your bog description made me outright laugh because just yesterday, I told my youngest daughter I was going to start making siren noises whenever she whined because I’m sick and tired of it!!!!! She wasn’t impressed.
