I have a 12 year old & he was easy as pie to potty learn. I also have a 2 year old (who's turning 3 on 4-28) & I take him to the potty each time we change his diaper & he goes EVERY time. He's even poopied on the potty a few times. We've been doing this since last May, My hubby has been pressuring me lately about him potty learning. We went about a month ago & bought SIX packs of real underwear (Cars, Mickey Mouse, Diego, & 3 WalMart brand). I've been trying to wait & let him actually "tell" me he's got to go (either tee tee/poopie) but it hasn't happened yet. Well, hubby keeps insisting that I need to step potty learning up a notch & so today, I tried~just so I could tell him I did. It's not been perfect but it's going ;) I started out w/real undies & he tee-teed twice in them in the 1st hour. I started out setting my microwave timer for 30 minutes & I think that was my 1st mistake=30 minutes was too long just starting out. So after the 2cd accident, I switched to Pull-Ups & set the timmer for 15 minutes. That seems to be working better~that was around 11 AM today & he's only wet the Pull-Ups once~not bad, not bad, in my opinion. I put a diaper on him @ naptime & when he got up he came & got me & told me he'd poopied. I changed his diaper & went back to Pull-Ups & set the timer for 15 minutes. Each time it goes off, we go to the bathroom & te's tee-teed each time & is staying dry. The last time I took him to tee-tee (which was about 5 minutes ago), he pitched a fit @ first & said he didn't want to go but I persuaded him too & he tee-teed for a good minute/two. After the 2cd accident, I was almost ready to give up & just go back to diapers, but then just took a time out for a minute & just said to myself (& it's SO true)~each child is different & does things in their own way & own time. What works for one, may not work for another. So, I'm just going to keep experimenting until I find the concept that works best w/him & just go with the flow. I've heard & read that if you push them too much & they're not ready, it can backfire on you. I made it as a chart with 10 spaces for stickers. Once all the spaces were filled up he got the pictured prize at the end (which was a milkshake).
