What’s Going On in July?

We have a very full month ahead of us. Thinking about it kind of makes me panic but in an overly excited kind of way. (A point that you may note is a big step in the right direction for me and my anxiety/PPD issues. Let’s celebrate!) With a calendar that is full and continues to fill, I’m wondering how I’m going to find time to do laundry or, I don’t know, play Wii but I’m sure I’ll find time for both.
Some fun things this month, off blog, actually include bloggers! The Fire Family will be spending the day with Judy and family at our local State Park’s beach. (Yes, this post.) I haven’t seen Judy in quite some time and am looking forward to some fun in the sun with my favorite Snarky Librarian. I sure hope Judy’s hair is still pink. BigBrother would absolutely love it!
We have a first birthday party to attend and, strangely, I don’t know what to get this kid. You’d think seeing as how LittleBrother is only four and a half months younger, I’d be in “the know” with what to get him. (Perhaps I should check out WishPot?) My go-to present for any age child is, of course, a book but they’re a book family! I don’t want to get him something he already has at home! Oh, dilemmas.
And then, on either the 16th or the 17th, as we haven’t yet decided which day we are leaving, we are, well, leaving! We’re heading to Hollow Rock as we do every year. Ten days of worship, friends, family, good food and a little peace and quiet. That’s right. Peace and quiet. No telephone. No television (other than a few DVDs standbys, played on the laptop, because we’re not totally stupid). No… yes, you guessed it… INTERNET. I will be taking four or five books as I can usually finish that many, despite parenting, eating, visiting and worshiping, without all the normal distractions of everyday life. During that time, I’ll have a few posts drip down onto the blog and, because I can’t totally disconnect, I’ll be occasionally tweeting from my phone. I’m so excited as we’ve bought a new (to us) cottage this year! FireDad won’t be joining us the entire time but will be down as much as possible.
And then the very next weekend my brother is getting married. And that’s the first weekend in August. My month is all ate up! Which I just realized… my Busy Body Book ends next month. And the new one is out of stock on Amazon! I’ll be lost without it! Here’s hoping its restocked by the 15th or else I won’t be able to order one in time! (I realize it’s available on the merchant’s website but I’m an Amazon Prime member. I relish my free shipping.)
I’ve got one giveaway planned before we head to camp but I haven’t chosen the day or the final product yet. So stay tuned for that!
What are you doing this month?

whew, just reading all you have planned has me exhausted! Let me see, hubby drove to Providence today, flying out to Guatemala and will be visiting family July 3-28th. He will be back here the 29th. Daughter is going to summer camp, son just hanging around. I start work again and will be very busy come July 14th. In the meantime, trying to get housework done, tend to garden and relax! Heading to San Antonio over Labor Day weekend, so that will be great!

Suggestion for 1 year old: Even though they’re a “book family” if they’re white, I bet they don’t have many books that feature a multicultural cast. Try anything by Ezra Jack Keats, Wherever You Are, Please Baby Please (great fun! by Spike Lee and his wife), More More More Said the Baby, Everywhere Babies, Black Is Brown Is Tan. Just off the top of my head. :0)
And most bookstores will take back a book as long as they sell it. So, even if you buy a book at Borders, the gift-ee can take it back to B&N as long as B&N carries the title, or vice versa.
Although, one of my favorite presents for Jack’s 1st birthday was a track suit. I didn’t have any clothes in the 12-18 month range, and one of my friends bought him a cute little track suit. It was great!
BPA-free tableware also comes to mind.
I love shopping for presents!

Camping and a canoe ride or two in Maine next weekend then San Diego a few days later for a week or two. July is going to fly by!
Glad you’re all doing well. LittleBrother is getting so big and BigBrother is just wow!

Are Bre and your brother getting married the same day? August 2nd?
My month is packed busy, too, with several trips to see family, and of course, a trip to Indiana to share in my best friend’s wedding
July will fly by, I’m sure if it.
