I Won the Goodmama Weekly Photo Contest!

Remember this post when I made the lot of you jealous as I posted pictures highlighting one of our frequent evening trips to the Fire House? (But then I told you how to visit and some of you forgave me.) And remember how someone commented that the first photo was going to win the weekly Goodmama photo contest? (But then I forgot to send in my submission not one but two weeks in a row.) Well, on Saturday night, only because a community post reminded me, I sent in the photo. I figured one of the amazingly talented photographers that just so happen to be Goodmama loyalists would beat me by a mile. Imagine my surprise when I got home from a preschool clothes shopping spree for BigBrother to see this:

That’s right! LittleBrother’s doopa right on Goodmama’s front page! I blinked a few time as my e-mail loaded to show that, sure enough, Suzanne announced the winner’s name. And unless some other woman FireMom took a picture of her almost-nine-month-old in his brand new Fire Truck Switched OBV Goodmama diaper in front of a fire truck wheel, well, I’d assume that I won.

I think this means that this particular photograph needs to be blown up, don’t you? And, quite possibly, framed nicely. Or something snazzy indeed! In fact, if I do get it blown up and framed, I do think this might be the photo that I enter in a local fall art contest. FireDad and I meant to have a personal competition in said contest last year but being pregnant and on bed rest kind of threw that idea out the window. We’ve been talking about it this year but I couldn’t decide which photo to enter. I think I may have found my answer. (See that, FireDad? You better bring it!) Of course, there are a few others that I honestly dig from that session as well. So, even though this photograph has already proven its worth, I’m still debating over a few others. (Mainly this despite cropped head and overexposure.) I think that one is more of a sentimental one for our family and should simply be framed because it is what it is: meaningful to us. Decisions, decisions.

All photography talk aside: I’m darn proud!

I’m also honored to be featured with the rest of this week’s amazing photos all over Goodmama’s site. (I mean, really, check out this page!) I’ve entered a few photos in the past and have always been blown away by past winner’s entries. And, honestly, I can thank those other photographers and the Goodmama herself for hosting such a contest. I’ve learned a lot about photography just by chasing after LittleBrother. (Of note: a Fire House garage does not have the best lighting so go when the light is decent. No gray days!) It’s almost a shame that BigBrother is now fully potty trained (even at night!) and there will be no more dual cloth diaper shots. Almost a shame indeed.

And as I’ve been promising, I have a cloth diapering giveaway coming up. However, it’s going to require your best cloth diapering photo. So be hunting through your own archives. September will surely bring about some good photo contests here on the blog!
