I just wanted a picture of the two of them in their matching green shirts. I bought the shirts specifically for today, St. Patrick’s Day. To boot, BigBrother had his first ever experience with school pictures at preschool today (we’ll see how those turn out soon). And so, after school, I just wanted a picture of these two, together, in their matching shirts.
You can imagine how that went. Let’s see some highlights.
Here, BigBrother shows LittleBrother his “bebo” for some unknown reason.

And then BigBrother tried to hold LittleBrother still. That went over poorly.

The rest of the series is a blurry mess of whining, crying, snot and general lack of participation. I won’t bore you with the lot of them. I did manage to get one nice one of BigBrother as he likes to say cheese right now.

At least he seems happy, right?
But getting a good picture of LittleBrother, even by himself, is impossible at this stage in his life. He’s a constant blur of motion. Even with my fancy camera, I can’t catch him. He’s on the go, faster than I can manage. Someday I’ll have nice pictures of him as well. Probably just around the time that BigBrother decides that smiling for the camera is beneath him.
I want nice pictures of the two of them but it seems somewhat impossible. I’m going to have to start photoshopping pictures of them together. You know, if I can catch up with LittleBrother. I am somewhat jealous of parents who have pictures of their children all smiling nicely and looking in the same direction. I can’t seem to master it. Ever since LittleBrother has become upwardly mobile, I can’t do it. Someday maybe?
I did catch a nice candid moment of the two of them together. Even if LittleBrother is somewhat blurry.

What you can’t see, or rather, hear, is LittleBrother whining. Apparently he didn’t want to be kissed.
Also? I am fully aware that my friends with three and more children have a harder battle to fight. I salute you parents of children more than two that somehow end up with three or more smiling faces on the front of your Christmas cards. I aspire to be like you someday.
Someday.

My name is Jenna, aka FireMom. I blog here,

It takes a LOT for me to get all three of mine somewhat posed without someone pulling hair or making faces. This series is adorable!

i read somewhere about making them stand in buckets of water … keeps them still. quite honestly … i think it would just cause wet pictures of my kids. all. the. time.
which seems much more weird than blurry.

Oh that is funny!!! We go back and forth sometimes I can get nice pictures of the two of them and sometimes none of them come out well at all. That is why I take the family to get professional pictures. The very nice lady who takes our pictures is fabulous!!! I know I am guaranteed to have at least one REALLY nice picture of us.

I think that is an ADORABLE set of pics! Candid pics are the ones you’ll love best when you look back at them in a few years (or a few months). You’ll remember the stories behind each one, what each kid was doing (or about to do) and everything happening off-screen. We’re bloggers…aren’t we all about the story?

I have to agree…I think the pictures are really pretty nice. They seem, to capture just what stage your boys are at, this point in life…isn’t that what pictures are for? Atleast – that’s what I tell myself!

At least you managed to capture some cute moments.
Love the matching shirts!
The only thing that kept my little ones occupied long enough to take a photo at Sears or at home was to give them something to hold. We have photos where one of them is holding at different times: a set of car keys, a pearl necklace, a sealed tube of M&Ms, and various other items. The toddler held the item long enough so that the photographer could snap the pic. Also, the toddlers loved the photographer madly waving a stuffed animal or squeaky toy.
At home I had marginal success, placing toddler on something — a riding toy or on someone’s lap or in the sand box.
I agree it is a struggle, but when you look back you will remember what a fast-paced time toddler hood is…kids always on the go.
