I love technology. I’m a techno-nerd. But I don’t often photography my many pieces of technology in my house. In fact, in one of my pictures today, I realized we need some new technology. (That said, we are waiting to get a new, fancy, flat-screen TV until after children run at the TV with grimy hands and yell, “CLIFFORD!” Or, in LittleBrother’s case, “CLIPPORD!”) Anyway, I did manage two pictures. One is a cute moment and one is a funny story. It wasn’t funny at the time though.
This first one was taken as FireDad was playing Mario Kart on our Wii with LittleBrother at the wheel. Before people complain, we don’t play video games with them often. There are two stipulations: they both have to nap and it has to be raining when they wake up from said nap. If they did nap and it is raining, they can choose between our (inherited) V-Smile or Mario Kart. They probably choose one or the other 50/50. If they didn’t nap but it’s raining? No games. If they did nap but it’s gorgeous? We’re going outside. That said, they love to play a game and laugh and point and jump around and ask for help. I love to watch and help. So does FireDad. We’re geeky, what can we say?

(Also, see? Need a new TV. That said, it works perfectly well in the fact that we bought it before BigBrother was born and so it’s not old. The color is wonderful. And it’s hard to justify buying a new TV when that’s the case. Plus the teeny-tiny hand prints mentioned above. Someday we’ll have a cool TV.)
Next, I need to tell a story. Yesterday, I drove to the library to fax a 16 page document. The library, as our governor recently cut funding, bumped up their faxing prices. I rarely (read: never) carry cash. I had three dollars and some pennies with me which, back in the day, would have faxed it all and I might have had enough for a candy bar. Not so. It was going to run me $4.75. Did I mention that I had dragged both boys with me? So, they cried the whole way back to the vehicle because we didn’t spend extra time at the library. Did I also mention that the only other place in town that faxed things recently closed? After supper, I decided I would simply scan the pages and email them to the party in question. Except that our two printer/scanners were not wanting to function properly. I began to cry. FireDad tried to help. Nothing was working. Technology was beating us.
And so, I was downstairs in my half-office-half-playroom, frustrated and on the verge of more tears when one of the printers sprang to life. I heard the distinct sound of printing and a paper slipped to the floor. I picked it up and laughed. My husband, on his laptop upstairs, sent me a note to cheer me up.

This is a moment that I would tag “Awesome Husbandry.” He knows when I need a laugh. Sometimes even the best of technology can be down right frustrating and laughs are needed to maintain sanity. And I did eventually get everything scanned and emailed only after my husband reminded me not to take life, or technology, too seriously. He’s so awesome.
For more technology shots, visit I Should Be Folding Laundry. Next week’s theme is Autumn (the season, not the girl I went to high school with). Which means I need to get outside and take some more pictures, especially as today is our last sunny and warm day. Off I go! (As a side note, all participants next week are eligible for a $35 Snapfish giftcard!)

Your husband is a doll! Seriously, if you’d told that fax story to that magazine, I’m sure he would have WON the hottest husband contest…. He’s a peach!
Can’t wait to hear more about the job opportunity – I was SO surpised to read that and very excited for you!
Hahaha! That’s totally something my husband would do too! Both photos are great. Lovely job!

Too funny. I’ve got one of those funny thoughtful husbands too.
Please tell your husband that we are all in awe of his awesomeness.
You two are so lucky to have each other!!
Oh my LOL
That’s hilarious and so totally awesome!
What an awesome way to tell you he got the printer going. He’s definitely a keeper! And what a great story, with pics, about technology.
LOL – great capture – love the note – just the sort of thing my hubby would do too
So sweet! And so funny too. I love technology, but it’s easy to get all wrapped up in whether it’s making my life easier or harder. I had to Xerox a whole sheaf of things the other week, and of course no one within a bajillion miles of me makes copies anymore. So I had an evening full of “please, please just be quiet and stop grabbing things so Mommy can get these copied and in the mail!”
I’m glad it all worked out.
