Four Going on Forty Going on Four

Four.

BigBrother is four. Going on forty. Going on four. Repeat. Over and over.

One day he will be the Little Old Man that we’ve known since he was born. He’s always been an old spirit kind of little dude with a large vocabulary and a unique way of looking at things. Sure, he was in diapers at one time and still pronounces his l’s as y’s but, seriously, sometimes he’s an old, old soul. And then, in the same instant, LittleBrother takes his Buzz Lightyear and the world crumbles. Or they tackle one another and roll across the room, whining and crying. Four to forty to four. That scene will likely repeat itself at forty though it won’t be Buzz. It will be something like a vehicle or a bottle of Scotch or video games. (What? We’re dorks. Surely we’re raising dorks.) Whatever the case, living the past four years with BigBrother has been interesting.

And I have loved (almost) every moment of it.

Yes, those are the previously mentioned photos I took for his birthday photoshoot the other day. The first is the one we put in the newspaper for his birthday announcement. I had to show off these four (of the fourteen amazing shots that I got) because this was the first time he was totally cooperative with a photo shoot. Four is shaping up to be quite nice!

Anyway, today is a day of celebration, pancakes, pierogies, presents and, hopefully, fun. Four years. I don’t know where it’s gone or how this little old man got to be so cool but I’m glad we’re celebrating four years with him in our lives today. I mean, pierogies. Who wouldn’t be glad?
