I usually rush bath time, especially on days that FireDad is at the fire department. The day has usually been long. Yesterday was longer than usual, but I was careful not to let my emotional turmoil spill over onto my parenting. I was a little more lax with the boys than usual during our evening routine. They got extra long bath playtime, which they informed me was the “best thing ever.”

Little moments like these make days like yesterday easier to handle. Seasonally appropriate, too. LittleBrother announced, “Mommy, I am like Santa! But smaller!” Yes.

I don’t know it is about bath time, but MAN does it make Alexis happy when we let her go for a while. It’s magical, even if it is annoying because it’s not like we can get anything done while sitting there making sure she doesn’t drown.

I swear my boy would play in the tub for hours if I let him. He’s old enough now that I can actually leave the bathroom for a little bit without worrying too much. I’m usually in the hall putting up towels in the linen closet so I can hear him.
Cute picture of your little boy! I agree with you, the nights when my husband is at work bathtime and bedtime are the hardest. If it’s been a long day, my patience is shot by that point. A good time to take a few deep breaths and not get stressed about the schedule : )
Also, I wanted to say thanks for the advent calendar idea. I used it with my kids this year and it’s going great! So much better than candy every morning.

This is so sweet. It is so nice to be in the moment and forget the challenges of the day (I have bath duty every night). Love the pic!
