He might still read to him next year.
They might still read to each other for years to come.
It’s hard to tell. These things change. These kids grow fast. So fast. They not only outgrow clothes and pajamas and shoes and characters. But they outgrow family time and siblings and quiet mornings together. It goes quickly, the time.
Someday, far too soon for my liking, they won’t be sitting together in the same chair — comfortably. They won’t be wearing fire truck pajamas. They won’t be reading Spiderman books. Things will change. Things are changing. It’s a constant rolling ball. Tomorrow will be different than today.
But today they sat. BigBrother read his way through a Spiderman reader. LittleBrother sat — quietly, listening. They wore firetruck jammies — different, but fire truck jammies all the same. It was quiet, except for his voice. I took a few pictures, despite the fact that I was swamped with work. I wanted to remember. I wanted to capture it.
I wanted this moment to last.
