Excited to Be Participating in “Better for BlogHer”
I am pleased to announce that I am participating in the Healthy Choice “Better for BlogHer” program. In fact, I’m really pleased to announce it for various reasons. Here are a few.
- I have been working really hard to get fit this year, both food and fitness wise. Anything that helps that along is a-okay by me.
- Free food? Sign me up.
- My good friend Mandy over at Four Against Two is also participating. Nothing like having an IRL-turned-blog-friend to bounce things off of.
- I kind of gained some weight this week while camping. (You would think camp would mean less food. Not so with my family. Sigh.)
So, yes, I’m thrilled to be participating.
The program is kind of awesome. We have been asked to replace one of our daily meals with a Healthy Choice meal. I’m all about that for various reasons, one of which I’ll discuss in length next week. (In short? I hate lunch.) More over, I reviewed Healthy Choice’s new Café Steamers awhile back and have been sampling various flavors since that time. My husband does the grocery shopping (I know, I’m the luckiest woman alive), and I instruct him to “surprise me” every shopping trip with some new flavors and a few of my favorites. Now that I have been provided with coupons to cover six week’s worth of meals, I can’t even imagine how many surprises will end up in our freezer! How exciting!
What I find most exciting about this program is the one-on-one I will get to have with Tara Gidus, the “Diet Diva.” I kind of need this, because food kind of makes my brain explode. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years about healthy meal planning. But the truth is that I struggle with the concepts of calorie counting and what not due to my past history with eating disorders. As such, I hope she has some great advice about how to approach nutrition from a healthy-mind perspective. I’m sure she will.
All in all, I’m just pleased as punch to be doing something fun and healthy to get ready for BlogHer. Then again, I’m also finishing up my Couch to 5K training so that I can run in the BlogHer 5K on Friday morning. It’s kind of funny, really. Some people assume that bloggers just sit around on their computers all day. Not so for me, especially this year. I’m ready for some good, get-me-moving changes.
I hope you enjoy my (five) weeks of posting about my experience. If you have any questions for me (or the nutrition lady!), let me know. I will update this initial post with the links to my others so that they are easily found!

I somehow didn’t know you were in the Better for BlogHer challenge, too! I’m also doing it, and love the food options. When you work 3rd shift, frozen meals are pretty much your only option for lunch.
