Mom’s Breakfast Club: Favorite Cereals
This is sponsored content by BlogHer and Kelloggs.
We have a very varied group of favorite cereals in our house. Ignoring oatmeal, the ultimate favorite and in which blueberry is fought to the death for, we have a few “go to” cold cereals that we really like.
I should note that I was raised in a house in which super-sweet cereals were not permitted. At all. I went away to college and decided I’d balk at the way I was raised and eat all of those cereals. As such, we generally have one box of family-approved healthy cereal and one box of “fun” cereal. I like the balance. So do my kids!
- Rice Krispies – In fact, my kids are doing better than I was at their age. They haven’t yet discovered you can sprinkle sugar on top. Win for us.
- Variations of O-cereals – Cheerios, Apple Jacks, Honey Nut Cheerios. The latter two fall into the more “fun” category.
- Corn Flakes or Frosted Flakes – Obviously one is less fun than the other, but they do like them both.
- Frosted Mini Wheats – A big, big favorite. For me, too.
- Peanut Butter Crunch – Our “ultimate” fun cereal. Mostly for FireDad.
They’ve had some other kinds over the years, but they didn’t fly well. Remember that my oldest son is dealing with texture issues and, as such, shies away from certain things in his cereal. Marshmallows? Not so much. Raisins? Not going to happen. He does like when I cut up bananas for Rice Krispies, Cheerios or Corn Flakes, but he’s not going to eat strawberries, blueberries or, really, anything else on his cereal. LittleBrother will eat whatever you put in front of him — thankfully.
BigBrother has just started to notice that there are gimmicky cereals out there, too. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem to have the gimmies about any of them just yet. Hopefully I can teach him the difference between healthy but fun and the gimmicky-unhealthy cereals on the market without making him think I’m a big meaniehead. I have hope!

I love the Frosted Blueberry Mini Wheats.
My favorite cereal is Corn Chex. I’m a bit of a freak and don’t like soggy foods so I almost always eat cereal dry with no milk.
We love the O’s and just discovered Chocolate Cheerios…a new favorite. I always enjoy Cinnamon Toast Crunch but that rarely lasts long in our household. Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops are usually a favorite, although Liam has been creating cereals. He’ll ask for Apple Loops (Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops), Lucky Toast Crunch etc.
My favorites are Rice Krispies and Frosted Flakes!

I have to admit my favorite cereal is the new Chocolate Mini Wheats Little Bites. I could eat it every day! Widget likes a combination of cereals, though she definitely gravitates towards the sweeter choices when they are available.
I love Froot Loops [but don't eat them very often].
I love a good bowl of frosted mini wheats!!

my fav is fruit loops without milk…
My favorite cereal growing up was Cinnamon Toast Crunch! My sister and I would always beg my mom to buy it at the grocery store and every once in a while she would give in. Now I realize why she did not want us eating it every morning – it is practically sugar in a box, but so DELICIOUS! Nowadays, my favorites are Cracklin’ Oat Bran, Rice Krispies, Crispix and Frosted Mini Wheats. My husband loves Raisin Bran. I am getting hungry just thinking about all of them!
KELLOG’S corn flakes was the only cereal I would eat as a kid. My husband likes to mix 3 or 4 types together so we have a box of cheerios and rice crispies and more on our pantry shelf.
I love Frosted Flakes, with or without milk! Hubby likes Shredded Mini Wheats and the kids like anything with marshmallows lol.
Frosted mini wheats is our family favorite!
I really like cinnamon toast crunch but if I’m trying to be healthier I like Special K with berries.
