I am excited to announce our Goodmama Giveaway winner. I am also super proud of myself for closing comments on the post at exactly noon yesterday. I’m always an hour or two behind because I get busy. And forget. It’s like I have kids and deadlines or something. Anyway, I ran the numbers (102 comments/entrants) this morning through random.org and got our winner.

Congratulations to Lucy from Macy Fron! (Seriously? Go look at this post of hers and see the absolute cuteness of the little girl who will be rocking a Fire Crew print in style.) I hope to see pictures of little Greta representing the Fire Family in her winning diaper!

For those of you interested in becoming Goodmama users, as many of you mentioned on the post, I have a few tips.

1. Not sure Goodmama will work for you and thus unsure if you want to spend the money on a brand new one? Go ahead and visit Spot’s Corner and look for some that are in EUC (Excellent Used Condition) or VGUC (Very Good Used Condition). As Goodmama is now an in-stock store, sellers have brought their prices down greatly. Some HTF (Hard to Find) prints are still being sold at prices even I won’t pay but, for the most part, you can get your hands on an OBV (Organic Bamboo Velour) for a very reasonable price.

2. Realize that you get what you pay for… meaning? These are of a great quality.

3. Also realize that these are one size. LittleBrother started in Goodmamas around two-and-a-half months (born at 7lbs, 7oz) and will be able to use them through his diapering career. Perhaps you’re thinking, “So?” Well, as an example, the other brand we use, Fuzzi Bunz, now sells for (not on sale) $17.95. Not being one sized, we have already had to purchase mediums. Eventually, if LittleBrother ever grows, we will have to purchase large. For the three sizes needed, we will actually spend more on Fuzzi Bunz than we will on Goodmamas. Just saying. It’s a great investment.

4. For Goodmamas to be waterproof, they do need a cover. We use Thirsties (though we have not tried the new version) or wool when he’s wearing clothes. Wool is a great investment, let me tell you. We’ve also been known to use fleece covers as well. Some people ask why you’d cover up a cute print like that but, well, why do you wear pants over cute underwear? Furthermore, we’re often coverless and pantsless (with Babylegs on in the winter) around these parts. We don’t find it to be an issue.

5. If you’re interested in winning one of your own diapers, keep an eye on the diaper list over at the official Goodmama photo contest and enter one week. I’d love to see your little one on the Goodmama site!

Thank you all for taking the time to enter, link and tweet about our contest. I’ve enjoyed getting to know some of you and hope that you enjoyed participating. I won’t be giving another Goodmama diaper away before Christmas (oh, budgets!) but I do see another one in the Stop, Drop & Blog future!

The Goodmama has changed up how the photo contest is being run. To win the photo of the week, you now have to submit a photo featuring the chosen diaper of the week. This past week was the first week for said rule. It just so happened that I had the Disco Party diaper in our stash. And so, I threw LittleBrother in a red shirt to bring out the red in the multicolored diaper and we headed outside on a random 80-degree day in October.

I took a billion and one pictures. Or somewhere close to that amount. I brought our Radio Flyer Firetruck ride on. I followed him around the yard. I set him in leaves. I let him climb the ladder on our slide which I didn’t know he could do. (Of note: I also didn’t snap pictures at this point because I was in such shock and holding my hands behind his butt to keep him from falling.) In the end, I strongly considered three photos. Even with the new rules, you can only enter one photo. I really debated between two and just hit it on the fly and entered one.

One title

I entered the third. And it won. Why did I choose it? I really just liked the simplicity of it. Sometimes simple is good. I loved the shots I had with the fire truck because I really thought they added a playfulness to the theme, that boyish kick to rockin’ a pink diaper. But the green against the red and the leaves behind him in the yard. I couldn’t pass it up. Plus? Do you see his eyelashes in this shot? He’s so darn lucky to have his Daddy’s eyelashes. They sure aren’t mine.

And so, through this week, LittleBrother is rockin’ not only the so-called-girly-diaper (total gender neutral, in my opinion!) but he’s also rockin’ the front page of the Goodmama site. I’m very excited and proud. To make things even better, we won a free Goodmama diaper to add to our (uhm, sizable) stash. All of this comes on the heels of the news that I’ve been made the Beginning Photographer Editor (possibly still hiring) over at Picture My Camera. I have absolutely nothing (other than my profile) up over there yet but I’ll let you know when I start handing out tips about getting a start in photography! (I think I’ll be writing my first post on Friday!)

All of that said, here’s the real reason why you clicked on this post: the giveaway. For those who have never been here before, the blog is entitled Stop, Drop and Blog becasue we are a Fire Family. October is National Fire Prevention month. (It’s also time for the quarterly Bloggy Giveaways.) My previous winning photo was of LittleBrother in his Fire Truck switched organic bamboo velour diaper at FireDad’s fire house. And, after many times suggesting, the Goodmama went and created a fire truck print diaper called Fire Crew. It was released in the Boyish and Gender Neutral Bundle (II)… which I didn’t order. But I got my hands on one. And then I got my hands on two. And that’s where you come in. Yes. You! Read on!

I’m giving away one Fire Crew print Goodmama one-size diaper. Free. You don’t even have to pay for shipping. That’s right. I’ve wanted to do this for my readers for some time and I finally have a blog-specific reason to do it! Because we’re a fire family, this is a fire related blog and we’ve got our hands on a fire print diaper. It’s win-win for everyone! And, so, how do you win? Here’s how.

1) Leave ONE comment on this post telling me why you want to win the Fire Crew Goodmama print diaper. Your IP address will be recorded with your comment. We will be watching for IP spoofing and other things of that nature. Optional Entries: You will be allowed up to two extra entries/comments: 2) blog about this giveaway with a link on your own public blog, coming back to leave a comment with the URL to your post and/or 3) tweet about this giveaway and leave the link in another comment with the URL to your tweet on twitter. (While you’re at it, follow me and I’ll follow you back!) And so, in short: one comment about why you’d love to win, one comment with a link to your public blog post about the giveaway, and/or one comment with a link to your twitter URL in which you tweeted about the giveaway. Comment entries will be accepted until October 30, 2008 at 12:00pm. At that point, I will close comments on this post and pick one random winner via random.org. The winner will then be contacted via email. The winner will be announced publicly on the blog on Halloween, the last day of National Fire Prevention Month, to bring the month to a close. (Note: You do not have to blog about the contest or tweet about it on your twitter account. You merely have to comment. The two other options are for extra entries.)

And in case you didn’t know, Goodmama is now an in-stock store. While Fire Crew is not currently in stock, there are a bunch of prints (my current in stock favorite: Blast Off), some regular organic bamboo velours (including some new serging colors though my favorite in stock color remains Bright Blue) and a ton of switched diapers (my current in stock favorite: Fire Truck, of course). You can even pre-order a bundle or a half box. So, if you don’t win, you can still step up and experience the Goodmama life.

Edited: Contest is now closed at 12:00pm on October 30th. Right on the minute. Winner announced tomorrow, October 31st! Stay tuned!

FINE PRINT: Per Goodmama guidelines, your diaper is only under warranty if you purchase directly from the Goodmama. That’s for serging issues, a tag that comes off and other issues like that. However, last I understood, snaps are under warranty for the life of the diaper despite if you are the original purchaser. Everything with the Fire Crew diaper has been checked. It is still New In Package (NIP), only removed from the package for photos. It’s good when it leaves here!
